Today, I’d like to share a case.
Problem Description
layer2 link between two nodes appeared red on NMS while there was no alarm on boards at both ends.
Problem Analysis
Following items confirmed from NMS
· No fiber cut was confirmed by monitoring power levels on both ends
· Alarms monitored on both ends
· U2000 DB checked
· U2000 all processes checked whether normal or not
Root Cause
U2000 was not obtaining the source and sinc refreshed status
Solution Description
To determine the status of NE's at both ends of the link. The link was reverted from the link management option in this way the U2000 obtains the status of NE's at both ends of the link.
Suggest
Reverting source and sink does not affect the servis of the NE. The U2000 cannot automatically identify the source ans sink NE's of a link after searching them out from the NE's so that users cannot determine the status of NE's at both ends of the link
