@LSA hello,

as @gabo.lr has explained very well,

(as VLL also used for geographically isolated user sites? and VLL is also implemented/used on MPLS Network ?) yes, VLL is a L2VPN, so it could connect the geographically isolated users' sites, and it's also based on MPLS.

I posted a thread about the VPN classification, you might refer it.

For the rest concepts, AC(attachment circuit) indicates the link between CE and PE.

VC(virtual circuit) indicates the logical link between two PEs.

PS, if you mean PW(pseudo wire), it indicates a pair VC between two PEs, it contains two VC which has the inverse directional.

Hello @LSA

First of all VLL (Virtual Leased Line) and VPWS (Virtual Private Wire Service) are the same. VPWS is an L2VPN technology that transmits Layer 2 services by simulating the basic behaviors and features of services, such as ATM, Ethernet, low-speed time division multiplexing (TDM) circuits, and synchronous optical network (SONET)/synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) on a packet switched network (PSN). VPWS emulates the traditional leased line on an IP network and provides asymmetric and low-cost digital data network (DDN) services. For users at both ends of a VPWS connection, the connection is similar to the traditional leased line. VPWS functions as a point-to-point virtual private wire technology that can support almost all the link layer protocols.

The virtual private LAN service (VPLS) is an MPLS-based Ethernet point-to-multipoint (P2MP) L2VPN service provided over a public network. VPLS ensures that geographically isolated user sites can communicate over MANs and WANs as if they were on the same LAN. VPLS is also called transparent LAN service (TLS).

The main difference is that VPWS is used on point to point (P2P), and VPLS is used on point to multi point (P2MP), and yes, they are both L2VPN services.

Best regards!!

thanks @Gabo for reply, very helpful....as you said VPLS ensure that geographically isolated user sites can communicate ,,,,as VLL also used for geographically isolated user sites? and VLL is also implemented/used on MPLS Network ?
Thanks

For more information, you can refer to the Difference between VLL, VPLS, and VPWS in L2VPN.

@LSA, I like to use an analogy with my students.
VPWS/VLL is like a cable. This VPN simulates a cable to connect the two sides.
VPLS is like a switch. This VPN simulates an exclusive switch to each configured VPN. Each interface where do you configure the l2-binding function as a connected cable on this virtual switch.
