Today I will share a post about Kubernetes.

What is Kubernetes?

Kubernetes is a COE (Container Orchestration Engine) it has support for Docker, it is already beginning to offer support for other containerization technologies, however, its functions and objectives remain the same, for example:

  • Cluster management

  • Schedule the execution and deployment of apps (containers)

  • Service monitoring

  • Secrets management (passwords and authentication tokens)

  • Ensure high availability of containers

  • Balancing of traffic in containers

It was developed by Google Inc. and later donated to CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation), initially it was implemented by google to facilitate development and accelerate Time to Market, manage a standard interface for deployments and for the adoption of modular APIs.

With the speedy increase of the latest applications, the price and potency of management and readying of VM-based apps all became vital challenges for business lightness.

After deciding to use container technology, Huawei began moving the internal I.T. department's applications to run on Kubernetes. So far, regarding thirty p.c of those applications are transferred to cloud native.
Although its power and economical use happens in a very cluster, it's conjointly doable to implement it in standalone, e.i. Kubernetes.

Kubernetes Cluster Architecture

A Kubernetes cluster is divided into two types of nodes (masters) and (worker).

You can deploy applications on specific nodes as configured.

KKKKK

MASTER NODES

  • etcd: Stores metadata of services, pods desired state in key value pair format

  • API server: It receives REST requests to modify or start services and pods, it also takes care of popular the etcd

  • Controller Manager: Control the desired status, replicas and endpoints of pods and services

  • Scheduler: Schedule the deployment of new pods according to the resources or desired status.

WORKER NODES

  • kubelet: It receives the instructions from the API Server and is in charge of maintaining the desired state or, in turn, is in charge of reporting to the master the current state of the pod

  • kube-proxy: Proxy service in each worker that is in charge of exposing and sub netting the services of the pods

  • Container runtime: functions as the software for running containers. You can download images to build your container runtime, such as Docker.

  • pod: Encapsulated unit with n number of containers, storage and a unique network ID

  • service: Since the pods are ephemeral, this one is in charge of keeping the service alive through the defined pods.

Kubernetes focuses on micro services, and today, due to globalization and the demand for lightweight, highly scalable services, it proposes a very efficient way to solve these types of problems.

Thanks.
