The clustered NAS storage system provides the manual snapshot and periodic snapshot.
A manual snapshot is also called an instant snapshot. You can create a manual snapshot for a specified file system at any point in time. When a backup window is not generated, the manual snapshot function helps you create consistent snapshots of source file systems. Each manual snapshot is a full backup of data. The manual snapshot function ensures a minute-level recovery point object (RPO). If you need only one snapshot of a file system at the current point in time, create a manual snapshot.
A periodic snapshot is also called an automatic snapshot. The system automatically creates snapshots of source file systems based on the user-defined schedule policies. You can specify the number of snapshots. Each file system can have a maximum of 128 periodic snapshots. The flexible and frequent generation of periodic snapshots enables lost data at different points in time to be quickly recovered. If you require a high data integrity to quickly recover lost data at a specified point in time, create a periodic snapshot.
