You can read, back up, or archive file system data at a certain point in time by sharing file system snapshots.
The clustered NAS storage system provides the Network File System (NFS) share and Common Internet File System (CIFS) share. The NFS share applies to UNIX, Linux, AIX, and HP-UNIX and the CIFS share applies to Windows. The operations of sharing snapshots and files systems are identical. The difference leads in the shared objects. The previous ones are the snapshots while the latter ones are the file systems. The share modes of snapshots shared through the NFS share and CIFS share are as follows:
-
CIFS
- CIFS normal share in the non-domain environment
- CIFS normal share in the AD domain
-
NFS
- NFS share in the non-domain environment
- NFS share in the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) environment
- NFS share in the network information service (NIS) domain
