Hi everyone!
Here’s a case that after UltraPath is installed, it is found that LUNs cannot be discovered or the number of discovered LUNs is larger than that of mapped LUNs.
[Symptom]
After UltraPath is installed, it is found that LUNs cannot be discovered or the number of discovered LUNs is larger than that of mapped LUNs. In addition, the extra LUNs differ in WWNs.
[Fault Diagnosis]
When creating a host on the storage system, the user does not add the initiator port mapping to the host. As a result, LUNs cannot be discovered on the host.
When multiple hosts are connected to the same storage system and the initiator port of another host is mapped to the current host, the number of LUNs discovered on the host is larger than the number of LUNs mapped to the host.
The link has bit errors. As a result, the HBA does not delete physical disks whose mappings have already been removed (for example, in the event of a LUN failure), or physical disks are reported through only one path.
[Solution]
On the storage system, check whether the correct initiator port is mapped to the host.
Ensure that only the initiator port of the host is mapped to the host.
Delete incorrect mappings and rescan for LUNs or restart the host.
