【Issue Description】
On a typical videoconferencing network, MCUs and participant endpoints are properly registered with the embedded SMC GK. However, when SiteCall is used to initiate a multipoint conference from a participant endpoint, an error message "Failed to hold the conference." is displayed.
【Possible Causes】
By default, the embedded SMC GK enables the SiteCall port only in secured mode. However, the participant endpoint where SiteCall is used does not comply with the SiteCall security requirements.
【Troubleshooting Procedure】
- Modify the participant endpoint settings so they meet the SiteCall security requirements. (Recommended)
- Log in to the SMC web interface. Choose Devices > Participant. In the displayed participant list, select the desired participant and click Edit Participant.
- Modify the settings of User name and Password while ensuring that the settings of User name and H.323 ID are consistent. Select HTTPS mode, as shown below.

- Click Save.
- Disable the SiteCall port in secured mode on the GK. (Not recommended)
a. Go to the save path of the GK configuration file, which is by default D:\Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd\Switch System\SwitchCentre\.
b. Open the GK configuration file gkcfg.ini using a text editor.
c. Set the value of safeguard-enable to 0 and save the file.
d. Restart the SwitchCentre service.
