Hi all, 

When configuring OSPF, I can silent the loopback interface.

[huawei] ospf 1

[huawei-ospf-1] silent-interface LoopBack 0

But when configuring ISIS, why it’s not permitted to silent the loopback interface?

Hi Sprout,

The isis silent command cannot be configured in the loopback interface view in any version. No neighbor relationship needs to be established between loopback interfaces, and loopback interfaces do not send or receive IS-IS packets. The isis silent command is used to configure an interface not to send IS-IS packets, and therefore this command cannot be used on a loopback interface.

OSPF is similar. Configuring a loopback as the silent interface doesn’t affect its route advertisement.
