The parameter depends on the live network.
For the parameter standard, ISIS IPv4 and IPv6 share the same topology DB, if a link which without IPv6 enabled is chosen as the best path, the IPv6 data will be discareded when trying to forward on this link.
While the paramter ipv6 allows the ISIS to run two logical topologys over the same physical network. One for IPv4 and another for IPv6, and the SPF algorythm will be performed separately on the two logical topologys, which prevents the “link blackhole”.
