Hi Yogijian!

You can replace ISIS with OSPF if you want, as both work with MPLS. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

For example, ISIS has the advantage that whenever there is any change happenning in routing, it only recalculates the particular leaf, while OSPF runs the complete algorithm which is processed intensively. The same way, in OSPF you can have special area(s) like STUB/ Totally Stub where you can reduce the routing table size by filtering LSA 3 (link state advertisement), but in ISIS there is no special area. So it depends - few engineers like OSPF (so they go with OSPF), few engineers are good in ISIS so they go with it.

Hope that clears your question, however in case of any further question you can drop a message.

Thank you.

Kindest regards,

Uzair

Hello

Currently, the big discussion and implementation is going on about adapting Segment-Routing, the idea behind is to use
already existing database of IGP to advertise the desired parameters for TE tunnel, but it can be issue with the depth of the label-stack. as a better solution is to use IPv6 with Segment-Routing header - pure IPv6 forwarding without MPLS :)
But you need to have the central entity to manage the Segment-Routing infrastructure.
Huawei NCEis the element that can manage and Control the desired TE behavior.

Take care and have a great day,
Viktor

P.S The way to replace IGP is just with static routing or BGP :)
