Hello!

You can roll back an application-based snapshot to the snapshot in time.

Pre-requisites:

  • At least one application-based snapshot has been created in the system.

  • Health Status of each LUN in the application-based snapshot is Normal.

  • Running Status of each LUN in the application-based snapshot is Activated.

Context:

Rolling back an application snapshot group rolls back all of the snapshots contained in the snapshot group to the point of activation.

Precautions:

  • You can only roll back one snapshot of a source LUN at a time.

  • You cannot roll back a snapshot if its source LUN is the primary or slave LUN of a remote replication.

  • You cannot roll back a snapshot if its source LUN is used as the primary LUN of a clone.

  • You can roll back a snapshot if its source LUN is used as the slave LUN of a clone and if the clone pair is being split (either the data of the primary LUN is consistent with that of the slave LUN, or the reverse data of the primary LUN is inconsistent with that of the slave LUN).

Procedure:

  • Log in to DeviceManager.

  • Choose Is it possible to roll back or mount a snapshot to a different LUN (OS 5500 V3)?-2979477-1Data Protection > Is it possible to roll back or mount a snapshot to a different LUN (OS 5500 V3)?-2979477-2Snapshot > Application.

  • From the drop-down list in the upper area of the left function pane, select an application type.

  • In the upper area of the left function pane, select the snapshot that you want to roll back and choose More > Start Rollback on the menu bar. The Roll Back Snapshot dialog box is displayed.

  • Set the snapshot rollback speed.
    • From the Rollback Speed drop-down list, select a rollback speed. Available speeds are LowMediumHigh, and Highest.
      • When the service load is heavy, set the rollback speed to Low or Medium.
      • When the service load is light, set the rollback speed to High or Highest.
Is it possible to roll back or mount a snapshot to a different LUN (OS 5500 V3)?-2979477-3 NOTE:

      • Low: Remote replication will take a long time. The speed is normally between 0 and 5 MB/s.
      • Medium: Remote replication will take relatively short period. The speed is normally between 10 and 20 MB/s.
      • High: Remote replication will take a short period. The speed is normally between 50 and 70 MB/s.
      • Highest: Remote replication will be complete in the shortest period. The speed is normally above 100 MB/s.
    • Click OK.The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  • Roll back the snapshot.
    • Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation., and click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating the operation result.
    • Click Close

If you want to mount the snapshot as a different lun to host , just map the snapshot as a lun to host .
