Greetings.

Hi huawei community , in this series i will explain ipv6 in important points, stay tuned.

ipv6 is the sequel to Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4), Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), has been a long time in the making. IPv4 has been a key element of the Internet's growth for more than 35 years. However, it was created at a period when the Internet had fewer than 600 hosts, before the World Wide Web, email, video streaming, mobile phones, and many other advancements

why ipv6?

1- IPv4 address exhaustion

For Internet addresses, ipv4 utilizes a 32-bit address. That implies it can accommodate 2^32 IP addresses in total, or around 4.29 billion. That may sound like a lot, however all 4.29 billion ip addresses have now been issued, resulting in the address shortage difficulties we confront today, ipv6 uses 128-bit Internet addresses. As a result, it can support 2^128 Internet addresses—340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456 to be exact. The number of ipv6 addresses is 1028 times more than the number of ipv4 addresses. As a result, there are more than enough IPv6 addresses to allow Internet devices to grow for a very long period.

2- Securing your existing network

3- Improved performance

4- Customer access to IPv6-only consumers

notes :

1- One of the supposed security benefits of NAT is address masking. However, NAT is not considered secure. Because NAT needs state, a NAT device must also function as a stateful firewall.

2- ipv5 is available?

It was never recognized as ipv5, and ipv5 was never adopted as an official protocol, What is currently known as ipv5 was formerly known as the Internet Stream Protocol, or simply ST. ST was made up of two protocols: ST (Internet Stream Protocol) and Stream Control Message Protocol (SCMP) (SCMP). The Internet Stream Protocol version 2 was not intended to replace ipv4. The concept was that a multimedia application would employ both protocols ipv4 for regular packets and ST2 for real-time data packets.
