Is IPA configuration or non configuration related to the warning "Laser Hazard warning" 

If yes how to reslove it

Hello Pico_Tico_2018,

The LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm (an alarm for the hazard of the output optical power of the laser) indicates that the output optical power of the amplifier board reaches Class 3. Optical power at Class 3 may result in personal injuries (the board can reach Class 3 but may not reach currently). This amplifier board is not configured with the IPA feature. Thus the NE software reports this alarm.

The maximum output optical power of a laser at Class 3 ranges from 21.3 dBm to 27 dBm. The maximum output optical power of a laser at Class 4 ranges as high as 27 dBm.

  • The NE software of version 5.8.7.12 and a later version supports the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm.

  • The ROP, RPA, RPC, or HBA board reports the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm if the NE software report the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm.

  • In the case of an OAU, OBU, or OPU board, check whether the output optical power of the board reaches Class 3. The board reports the alarm if the output optical power of the board reaches Class 3.

    • An E3OAUC05 or OBUC05 board of version 3.31 and a later version supports the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm.

    • An E4OAUC05 or OBUC05 board of version 4.21 and a later version supports the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm.

    • An E5OAUC05 or OBUC05 board of version 5.13 and a later version supports the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm.

Procedure

The LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm can be cleared by configuring the IPA feature on the amplifier board or configuring suppression of the LASER_HAZARD_WARNING alarm. The alarm may result in personal injuries. Therefore, you need to use the suppression function with caution.

Hazard related to laser levels. When a high-power laser is used in the optical transmission system, the system may cause personal injuries. In this case, if the IPA function is disabled or not configured, this alarm is reported prompting the user to configure the IPA function.

This alarm does not affect services; however, it might cause personal injuries.


Possible Causes

1. The laser power is high and the IPA function is not configured.

2. The laser power is high and the IPA function is disabled even if it has been configured.


Procedure

1. Check the IPA configuration on the NE.

2. If the IPA function is not configured for the NE, follow the network plan to create IPA protection.

3. If the IPA function is configured for the NE but is disabled, enable the IPA function.

4. After the IPA function is configured and enabled, the alarm is cleared automatically. If the alarm persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers for help.
