Hello, everyone. Today, I'd like to introduce the slicing technology from the 5G network.


For 5G networks, this technology is used slice the physical network into multiple logical networks according to various service requirements, and provide these logical networks to various users to ensure high bandwidth and low latency of key services.

Huawei Wi-Fi 6 network uses the 5G network slicing technology. Core switches, WACs, and APs support hierarchical QoS, identify and prioritize key applications of key users, and implement end-to-end QoS guarantee for key services.


To accurately schedule different services from end to end, firstly, it is necessary to identify congested nodes and key users. Huawei AirEngine Wi-Fi 6 AP uses telemetry to implement second-level congestion detection and reporting. The WLAN network reserves dedicated channels for APs with heavy traffic to perform traffic shaping. In addition, the AirEngine AP reserves bandwidth for VIP users based on user types, and evaluates the spectrum resources required by VIP users in real time based on the data volume and packet transmission rate on the air interface.


The second is to accurately identify key applications. Huawei has trained the current services and developed a complete signature database to accurately identify up to 6000+ services, including VR/AR/4K conferences and games. These features are still being improved and can be updated online, ensure the accuracy of application identification.


Finally, the Huawei WiFi6 introduces an OFDMA scheduling algorithm originating from a cellular network. By sharing a frequency band resource by using OFDMA, a user divides the transmission bandwidth into a series of RU(Resource Unit)s that do not overlap each other, and dynamically allocates an available RU resource to a required user, thereby achieving optimal utilization of system resources.

1. Joint decision on the service requirements of the to-be-scheduled user and the transmission quality of the air interface link, selecting an appropriate to-be-transferred user, and matching the most appropriate RU resource for each user, thereby effectively reducing the waiting time for resource scheduling of the user, and providing higher spectrum utilization and information transmission rate.

2. QoS scoring mechanism: Based on the coexistence of multiple services in different scenarios, different services have different QoS requirements. A refined scoring mechanism is established to select high-priority candidate user groups from many users to be scheduled to ensure that the throughput, delay, and jitter of each service meet the requirements. Compared with the traditional AirTime fairness rule, this feature provides better E2E user experience.

3. OFDMA, combined with MU-MIMO and 1024QAM modulation, implements high-order modulation and spatial multiplexing of higher streams, and matches the most appropriate transmission mode and modulation order for each group of transmission.


With the network slicing technology derived from 5G, Huawei Wi-Fi 6 network can increase the throughput and increase the number of concurrent users in scenarios with high density and high capacity.
