Today, I’d like to share a case.
Problem Description
The OSN 2500 with version V100R010C03 has a problem when user try to create MSP protection, the error "Invalid NE Cahracter Set" Appears identified with error number 1090615203 on U200, so what we can do to fix or solve the issue?
Problem Analysis
The NE doesn't allow to create MSP protection due this error. NE Charset management defines how the character in NE are trasfered to U2000, if its inconsistent with the U2000 an error is displayed which means that characters are illegible.
To make sure the character set are the same on NE and U2000, the NE Charset Management option needs to be modified with one of this supported character values: GBK, ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8.
Root Cause
The error is caused because the is inconsistency between characters set on NE and Characters set on U2000, so they have to be the same to solve the issue.
Solution Description
Modify NE Charset using U2000 (it has to be with admin client), it can be done selecting on U2000:
1. Configuration >> NE Batch Configuration >>NE Charset management.
2. After this you have to select the NE or NEs you want to modify, then Query NE Character set management window.
3. Finally right click on character set column of NE involved and modify with one of the options displayed and click on apply.
The three options of value are:
· GBK: For a type of Chinese national standard
· ISO-8859-1: A type of Latin Character Set
· UTF-8: An encoding method of Unicode
Suggest
· The operation needs to be done with admin client.
· Check the Character set on adyacents NEs as guide.
· Check if error was solved.
· For this case the character set was 151 and it was changed to ISO-8859-1.
