Hello, everyone!
Today, I would like to share with you a brief introduction on WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network) technology that is used mainly in medical applications.
The field of sensor networks has evolved greatly as wireless communication and semiconductor technology have advanced rapidly, covering a wide range of applications including healthcare and medical systems.

A Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is a special-purpose sensor network that can operate independently to connect medical sensors and appliances both within and outside the human body.
The use of a WBAN for medical monitoring and other applications will provide both health care providers and patients with more flexibility and cost-saving options. When compared to conventional electronic patient monitoring systems, a WBAN system can provide two substantial benefits.
The first benefit is that patients can move around thanks to the usage of portable monitoring devices. The location-independent monitoring facility is the second benefit.
As an autonomous device, a WBAN node can search for and connect to a suitable communication network to send data to a remote database server for storage. It's also feasible that a WBAN will connect to the internet in order to send data in an unobtrusive manner.
The health-care industry is rapidly searching for modern ICT (Information and Communication Technology) solutions to manage healthcare delivery across a variety of services. Patients will be able to receive healthcare not only at hospitals and medical centers, but also in their homes and workplaces, saving money and improving their quality of life.
I will continue to share on this article in the following post.
