Hello, everyone!
Today, I'd like to introduce you difference between two NMS migration modes: database mode and script mode.
As the development of NCE NMS, we need to restore U2000 data to NCE, and there are two scenarios: script mode and database mode.
Mode | Implementation Method | Application Scenario | Advantages | Disadvantages |
Migration in database mode | 1.Use EasySuite to back up the U2000 database and files. 2.The data table structures of U2000 and NCE are different. Therefore, convert data and then restore the data to NCE. | 1.U2000 manages a large number of NEs. 2.The customer has high requirements on the migration time window or does not allow data loss during the migration. | 1.Tool-based migration with high efficiency within the time window 2.No need to upload data from NEs | The restrictions on the source U2000 version in database mode are stricter than those in script mode. |
Migration in script mode | 1. Transport and IP: Use the script import and export function of U2000 to export text files containing NE and link information, import the text files to NCE, add NEs in batches, and upload data from the NEs. 2. Access: Use EasySuite to export text files containing basic NE information from the U2000 database, import the text files to NCE, add NEs in batches, and upload data from the NEs. | 1.U2000 manages a small number of NEs, and customers do not have high requirements on data integrity. 2. Single-server system reuse scenario. | The basic functions of NCE are used to complete the migration, ensuring high migration reliability. Note: For a small-scale network, the script mode requires a short migration time window. Most operations are performed manually for data restoration beyond the time window. The process is reliable and does not require pre-migration. The E2E efficiency is high. | 1. PMS, DC, and NBI data is not migrated and needs to be reconfigured on NCE. 2.In general, there are many manual operations, and some data is not migrated. |
Note: Before the migration, we need to backup database of new installed NCE in case of rollback of NCE.
