Hello, this post will share with you Interconnection Requirements for Client-Side Optical Modules, you may be interested.
Successful interconnection of client-side optical modules poses requirements on line modulation format, optical source type, transmission distance, wavelength range, the number of wavelengths, interface type and service type.
For the specific line modulation format, optical source type, target transmission distance, and wavelength range supported by a board, see the topic that provides the board specifications of the product documentation.

1. The same line modulation format must be used.
2. The same optical source type must be used.
For example, the optical modules whose fiber types are MMF and SMF cannot be interconnected.
3. The actual transmission distance is not greater than the shorter target transmission distance between the two optical modules.
For example, the transmission distances of modules CFP-100G(4x25G)-1295nm to 1310nm(LR4)-SMF-10km-AP and CFP2-100G(4x25G)-1295nm to 1310nm(ER4)-SMF-40km are different. When the two modules are interconnected, the actual transmission distance is 10 km.
4. The outgoing wavelength range of the remote optical module is within the ingoing wavelength range of the local optical module.
For example: The working wavelength range of the eSFP-2.5G-1310nm-SMF-15km is 1266 nm–1360 nm, while that of the eSFP-2.5G-1310nm-SMF-2km is 1260 nm–1580 nm. This meets the interconnection requirements.
However, for 40G/100G optical modules, the wavelength range must be the same. For example, the wavelength ranges of modules CFP-100G(4x25G)-1295nm to 1310nm(LR4)-SMF-10km-AP and QSFP28-100G(4x25G)-1271 to 1331nm(CLR4)-2km-SMF are different, and the two modules cannot be interconnected.
5. The same number of channels must be used.
For example, CFP-100G(4x25G)-1295nm to 1310nm(LR4)-SMF-10km-SP has four channels, and CFP-100G(10x10G)-1295nm to 1550nm(LR10)-SMF-10km-SP-01 has 10 channels. The two optical modules cannot be interconnected.
6. The same interface type is used.
The optical modules with MPO and LC interfaces cannot be interconnected except for the scenario where a few modules use split optical fibers.
Each MPO interface has 12 cores or 24 cores. The MPO modules with different interfaces cannot be interconnected.
Single-fiber bidirectional modules cannot be interconnected with two-fiber bidirectional modules.

7. The same service type is supported.
For example, the QSFP28-100G(4x25G)-850nm(SR4)-MMF-0.1km module supports 100GE services and the QSFP28-56.1G to 112.2G(4x14/28G,Multrate)-850nm(SW4)-MMF-0.1km module supports FC1600/FC3200 services. Therefore, the two modules cannot be interconnected.
That's all, welcome to leave a message to discuss.
Thank you!
