Procedure
1. On the right navigation bar, click
.
2. In the Task area, click Initial Configuration. The Initial Configuration dialog box is displayed.
3. On the Basic Information page, set the following parameters:

Device name |
1. The name contains only letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), hyphens (-), and cannot start with a hyphen (-). 2. The name contains 1 to 23 characters. |

Device location |
The name contains 1 to 255 characters. |
|
Password of the super administrator |
1. In the User Information area, click Modify to change the password.
Using passwords can protect your storage device. You are advised to change your password during the initial configuration. 2. In Old password, enter the old password. 3. In New Password and Confirm Password, enter a new password. |
4. Click Next. On the Device Time page, configure the device time.
You can set the device time using any of the following methods:

Synchronize client time |
1. Click Next. The Warning dialog box is displayed. 2. Carefully read the contents of the Warning dialog box. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read the warning message carefully to confirm the information. 3. Click OK. The Configure disk domain page is displayed. |

Automatically synchronize NTP |
1. In Server IP address, enter the IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) of the NTP server. The IP address can be an IPv4 address or an IPv6 address. 2. In Synchronization period, set the interval for time synchronization. The minimum period is one minute, and the maximum period is 10 days. 3. Click Next. The Warning dialog box is displayed. 4. Carefully read the contents of the Warning dialog box. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read the warning message carefully to confirm the information. 5. Click OK. The Configure disk domain page is displayed. |

Manually modify |
1. Click Modify. The Modify Time dialog box is displayed. 2. Reset Date. 3. Reset Time. 4. Reset Current time zone. 5. Click OK. The Warning dialog box is displayed. 6. Carefully read the contents of the Warning dialog box. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read the warning message carefully to confirm the information. 7. Click OK. The Succeeded dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation succeeded. 8. Click OK. 9. Click Next. The Configure disk domain page is displayed. |

Remain the current device time |
Do not modify the device time. Click Next. The Configure disk domain page is displayed. |
5. In the Configure disk domain page, configure a disk domain.
- If you select Yes, the system will automatically configure the disk domain and click Next, the Information dialog box is displayed indicating the success of the operation. Click OK and the License Management page is displayed.
Click View system configuration to view the available disk numbers in the newly created disk domain.
- If you select No, I want to manually configure the disk domain and click Next, the License Management page is displayed.
6. On the License Management page, view the activated licenses or the newly activated license.
1. On the Active License tab page, view and back up activated license files. Click Back Up. The system automatically downloads the license file to your local PC.
2. Click the Inactivated License tab and activate the license file.
1. Click Select.
2. Select the license file that you want to import and click Open.
Information on the dialog box may vary with the browser. Perform this step based on actual requirements.
3. Click Upload.
4. Click Activate. The Information dialog box is displayed.
5. Click OK. The Succeeded dialog box is displayed indicating that license file is activated.
6. Click OK.
Click View Difference and view the values of Runtime Time Difference between active and inactive license files.
7. Click Finish. The Information dialog box is displayed, indicating that the initial configuration is complete.
8. Click OK.
