Procedure

On the navigation bar, click
.

In the Task area, click Initial Configuration.
The Initial Configuration dialog box is displayed.

Configure the device information in the Basic Information window.
Setting basic information
Device Name
- The value can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-), and cannot start with a hyphen (-).
- The value contains 1 to 23 characters.
Device Location
The value contains 1 to 255 characters.
Password for super administrator

In the User Information area, click Modify.
NOTE:
Using passwords strengths storage system security. Therefore, you are recommended to change the password during the initial configuration.
- Enter the old password in the Old Password text box.
- Enter a new password in the New Password text box and repeat it in the Confirm Password text box.

Click Next. Configure the device time in the Device Time window.
Configure the device time using one of the following methods.
Setting device timeClient Time Synchronization
- Click Next. The Warning dialog box is displayed.
- Read and confirm the Warning information, select the check box for I have read the previous information and understood subsequence of the operation.
- Click OK. The Configure Disk Domain window is displayed.
Set NTP Automatic Synchronizing

Enter the IP address of the NTP server in the Server IP Address text box.
Both IPv4 and IPv6 IP addresses are supported.

Set the period of synchronizing the NTP server time in the Synchronization Period text box.
The minimum period is one minute, and the maximum is 10 days.
- Click Next. The Warning dialog box is displayed.
- Read and confirm the Warning information, select the check box for I have read the previous information and understood subsequence of the operation.
- Click OK. The Configure Disk Domain window is displayed.
Manual
- Click Modify. The Change Time dialog box is displayed.
- Modify the date displayed on the device in the Date group box.
- Modify the device time in the Time group box.
- Select the time zone of the location where the device is located in the Current Time Zone drop-down list box.
- Click OK. The Warning dialog box is displayed.
- Read and confirm the Warning information, select the check box for I have read the previous information and understood subsequence of the operation.
- Click OK. The Success dialog box is displayed, stating Operation succeeded.
- Click OK.
- Click Next. The Configure Disk Domain window is displayed.
Do not change the current device time
Not to synchronize the device time.
Click Next. The Configure Disk Domain window is displayed.

In the Configure Disk Domain window that is displayed, configure a disk domain.

Select Yes, the system will automatically configure the disk domain and click Next. The Info dialog box is displayed, indicating that the disk domain configuration has succeeded. Click OK. The License Management window is displayed.
NOTE:
Click View System Settings, you can view the disk number which can be used into the default disk domain.
- Select No, I want to manually configure the disk domain and click Next. The License Management window is displayed.

Select Yes, the system will automatically configure the disk domain and click Next. The Info dialog box is displayed, indicating that the disk domain configuration has succeeded. Click OK. The License Management window is displayed.

In the License Management window that is displayed, view active licenses or activate licenses.

Choose Active tab. View and back up active licenses.
Click Back Up. The system automatically downloads the license file to your local computer.

Choose Inactive tab. Activate licenses.
- Click Select.

Select the license that you want to activate and click Open.
NOTE:
Different web browsers may have differences on dialog box display, please operate according to the actual display.
- Click Upload.
- Click Activate. The Info dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK. The Success dialog box is displayed, stating Succeeded in activating the license file.

Click OK.
NOTE:
You can click View Difference to view the Runtime Difference between activated and inactivated license files.

Choose Active tab. View and back up active licenses.
- Click Finish. The Info dialog box is displayed, stating Initial configuration is completed.
- Click OK.
