Indicator for fan speed

can we add an extra indicator for monitorring fan speed in NE40E-X3 router? and how?

@Ammarl hello,
the MIB OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.31.1.1.10.1.5 could help to monitor the fan speed, or you can query the fan speed on the device through command display fan.
If you are wondering if it's possible to install a physical indicator in the NE40E, I think it's not possible, and the indicator cannot get the fan speed if installed in the device.

4.3.1  System Air Channel

This section describes the NE40E-X8's system air channel.

The NE40E-X8 draws in air from the front and exhausts air from the rear. The air intake vent is located above the board area on the front chassis; the air exhaust vent is located above the board area on the rear chassis.

The two fan modules of the NE40E-X8 are located side by side at the air exhaust vent, with each module containing one fan. The entire system dissipates heat by drawing in air, as shown in Figure 4-12.

4.3.2  Air Intake Vent

An air filter is installed over the air intake vent of the NE40E-X8. The air filter has a curved face, large area, and small windage resistance. These features help to improve heat dissipation efficiency.

4.3.3  Fan Module

This section describes the appearance of the fan module.

Two fan modules, each containing one fan, are located side by side at the air exhaust vent. If a single fan fails, the system can still work normally for a short period of time at ambient temperature of 40ºC (104ºF). Figure 4-13 shows the appearance of a fan module.

Short-term operation means that the continuous working time does not exceed 96 hours and the accumulated time per year does not exceed 15 days.

Table 4-8 lists the indicators on the fan module.

4.3.4  Air Filter

The NE40E-X8 draws in air from the front top and exhausts air from the rear top. There is a 3 U space in the upper part of the chassis and an air filter on the front of the chassis. To maximize air intake, the filter is fully perforated. The air filter is fixed to the chassis by a fastener to facilitate filter removal and replacement. Figure 4-14 shows the appearance of an air filter.

Placing a black sponge air filter at the air intake vent helps to prevent dust from entering the system. It is recommended that the air filter be removed and cleaned once every three months.

4.3.5  Fan Speed Adjustment

When the system is fully configured, temperatures reported by the temperature sensors on the LPUs, SFUs, and MPUs serve as the basis for fan speed adjustment. Table 4-10 lists general principles.

but what i want to say if i can create a threshold in the router or U2000 in order to monitor the fan speed if its exceed 60% in example....?

I think there are performance indicator for this problem ..read it and monitor it you can be in safe side ...

But there's no indicator for fan speed. Although you can find for temperature but not for speed. As l know ..
If you certainly if there any, please guide me where I can find it.

the main issue is to create a threshold on router or on U2000 NMS in order to warn me if the fan speed exceed 80% for example....
