  Rewarded HiCoins: 0 (problem resolved)

I have tried to provide my AC6050DN and AP4050DN with internet by connecting the router internet cable to the AC port 6. I can see that the port is connected to the cable by pinging the default router address inside the AC. However when I’ve configured the wlan of the AP4050dn to “forward direct” and set the router ip-address to the same as the router. I’ve been able to make the AP to go online and connect clients to it, but there is still no internet provided to the clients. Please I’ve had this issue now for weeks and I would really need help so I can provide my AC and AP with internet.

Like this->

<Huawei> system-view[Huawei] sysname Router
[Router] vlan batch 101
[Router] interface gigabitethernet 1/0/0
[Router-GigabitEthernet0/0/6] port link-type trunk
[Router-GigabitEthernet0/0/6] port trunk allow-pass vlan 101
[Router-GigabitEthernet0/0/6] quit
[Router] interface vlanif 101
[Router-Vlanif101] ip address "to my router default ip address"
[Router-Vlanif101] quit

Ive also changed the route static to->

[AC] ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 "default route ip-address"

Hi @mike15,
Well, I'm not sure what the situation you really are. Kindly help to confirm the questions below.
1. (I have tried to provide my AC6050DN and AP4050DN with internet by connecting the router internet cable to the AC port 6.) ------ Did you mean it is the router which connects to the internet, right? Then, why you connect the internet cable of router to the AC port 6? What's more, from your confiugration below, did you connect the port 6 of AC to the interface G0/0/6 of the router?
2. (I can see that the port is connected to the cable by pinging the default router address inside the AC.) ------ What you mean the default router address inside the AC? Did you ping the "default router address" from the router?
3. (However when I’ve configured the wlan of the AP4050dn to “forward direct” and set the router ip-address to the same as the router.) ------ "forward direct", did you mean direct forward? What you mean "set the router ip-address to the same as the router"? Did you "set the router ip-address" on the AP? Could you please provide the corresponding command?
4. ([Router-Vlanif101] ip address "to my router default ip address") ------ What you mean "to my router default ip address"? What is the router default ip address?

Hi Chenhui!
1: Yes, it’s the router that contains the public internet which is connected to port 6. No significant reason I just chose port 6, all I want to do is to provide my AC with internet. I thought by configuring the router to g0/0/6 the AC will communicate with the ethernet cable from the router and perhaps receive internet.
2. Yes, I pinged the default router address of my public internet wi-fi inside the AC and could see that it was communicating every time the cable was connected. T

Hi @mike15,
Your description really confused me. It seems that you are configuring layer 3 direct forwarding in inline mode, you might refer to https://support.huawei.com/hedex/hdx.do?docid=EDOC1000153688&id=dc_wlan_example_basic_0004_2&lang=en

2. Yes, I pinged the default router address of my public internet wi-fi inside the AC and could see that it was communicating every time the cable was connected. Therefore, I suggested the router cable was providing some type of communication.

3-4. I’m referring to “Example for Configuring Layer 2 Tunnel Forwarding in Inline Mode”. I set the default ip address to vlanif101 in router view like this ->
[Router] interface vlanif 101
[Router-Vlanif101] ip address "to my router default ip address"
[Router-Vlanif101] quit
I wanted the vlan101 to communicate with the right router and hence be able to receive internet, the router default ip address is 10.0.1.1! Sorry if I’m very unclear I’m not a network engineer.

Hello @mike15,
So, in fact, interface g0/0/6 of the router is connected to the Internet, and port 6 of the AC connects to the router, right?

ac

Please refer the figure above, did I draw your network correctly?

From your description, you are able to ping the internet from AC, but not able to ping the internet from the STA which connects to the AP 4050DN, am I right?

Or wait the router cable is connected to port 6 on the AC and its on interface g0/0/6. The router cable is coming directly from a switch which is connected to the router! Otherwise the topology seems right!

I double checked on which port the router cable was connected too, and it is port 10 on the switch. And the same ethernet cable is connected to port 6 hence the interface is on GE0/0/6.
