Here some screenshots of a protocol assigned VLAN. It really takes effect, the CoS gets also set. Nice. The next thing I want to try is to separate ARP-Traffic in a separate VLAN, just for fun.

Example of IPv6 output, placed in VLAN 16

Example of IPv4 output, placed in VLAN 14.

Thanks to HUAWEI and its employees for providing such great hardware.

Hi everyone

As promised, I experimented with ARP (and RARP) in a seperate VLAN. It works, I assigned VLAN 806 for ARP and gave it the highest L2 priority value. So, this important protocol is automatically seperated. Wireshark screenshot:

This might also get interesting with Ethertypes like 8863 and 8864 (PPPoE).

Hybrid ports could also be used as a security measure on simple access ports.

If all of your client NICs can do VLAN-tagging, you set them to a fixed VLAN.
All untagged / unauthorized traffic on the same port could be sent to a "honeypot" VLAN or simply be blocked.

So only a client with a NIC who knows the correct VLAN-ID could access the network.

What do you think?
