13  QoS

13.1  QoS Profile

Context

In a QoS profile, you can configure parameters such as the bandwidth limit and priority. After a QoS profile is bound to a user group, the RADIUS server can deliver user group information to an AC so that the AC can limit the bandwidth of users.

Procedure

  • Configuring a QoS profile
    1. Choose QoS > QoS Profile to display the QoS Profile page.

      Figure 13-1  QoS Profile
      2fffef9869f24cc583068732f2ca23a1

    2. Click Create on the QoS Profile List page. Set the parameters on the Create QoS Profilepage that is displayed. For description of the parameters, see Table 13-1.

    3. Click OK to complete the configuration.

Table 13-1  Description of the parameters for configuring a QoS profile

      Parameter

      Description

      Profile name

Specifies the name of a QoS profile.
      NOTE:

The profile name cannot be changed.

      User priority

Specifies the value of the user priority. The value is an integer that ranges from 0 to 7. A larger value indicates a higher priority.

      Inbound CAR Parameters

Sets traffic policing parameters for incoming traffic.

      CIR(kbit/s)

Specifies the committed information rate (CIR), which is the average rate of traffic that can pass through.

      PIR(kbit/s)

Specifies the peak information rate (PIR), which is the maximum rate of traffic that can pass through.

The PIR cannot be smaller than the CIR.

      CBS(bytes)

Specifies the committed burst size (CBS), which is the average volume of burst traffic that can pass through.

The CBS cannot be smaller than the CIR.

      PBS(bytes)

Specifies the peak burst size (PBS), which is the maximum volume of burst traffic that can pass through.

The PBS cannot be smaller than the CIR.

      Outbound CAR Parameters

Sets traffic policing parameters for outgoing traffic.

  • Modifying a QoS profile
    1. Choose QoS > QoS Profile to display the QoS Profile page.
    2. On the QoS Profile List page, click bef547c3acad440cb9aaf73494e62fa9 corresponding to the QoS profile details.
    3. On the Modify QoS Profile page, re-enter or reselect the parameters. For description of the parameters, see Table 13-1.

    4. Click OK to save the parameter settings.
  • Deleting a QoS profile
    1. Choose QoS > QoS Profile to display the QoS Profile page.
    2. On the QoS Profile List page, select the QoS profile to be deleted and click Delete.
    3. Click OK in the displayed dialog box. The QoS profile is deleted.
  • Searching a QoS profile
    1. Choose QoS > QoS Profile to display the QoS Profile page.
    2. Select a search item in Search, select or enter keywords, and click Go. After the QoS profile is found, you can view, modify, or delete it.

13.2  CAR Profile

Context

To monitor the volume of the traffic that enters a network and limit incoming or outgoing traffic within a proper range, you need to configure a traffic policy. QoS CAR technology implements traffic policing on user services, such as voice or video services, by creating a QoS CAR profile that defines QoS CAR parameters and applying it to the inbound direction on an interface or in a VLAN. The qos car command can be used to create a QoS CAR profile and set QoS CAR parameters.

Procedure

  • Creating a CAR profile
    1. Choose QoS > CAR Profile to display the CAR Profile page.

    2. Click Create on the CAR Profile List page. Set the parameters on the Create CAR Profilepage that is displayed. For description of the parameters, see Table 13-2.
