Question
How Can I Change the Drive Letter Number inAIX6.1 TL6 or Later?
Answer
1. Stop the services running onthe disk whose drive letter is to be changed.
2. Run the rendev -l hdiskX -n hdiskYcommand, where X indicates the original number and Y indicates the number aftermodification.
Note:
1. Drive letters can only be namedin hdiskX (X indicates a number. Thevalue ranges from 0 to 16,383) format when UltraPath is used.
2. If the new drive letter has beenused or already exists in the /devdirectory, the operation will fail. If the new drive letter with character r added in front is used or alreadyexists in the /dev directory aswell, the operation will fail.
3. To protect the configurationdatabase, the rendev command cannotbe suspended once started. If you attempt to suspend the command, the databasemay be damaged.
3. Contact the administrator torestart the services.
