Good day everyone!
Long time, no see, Huawei Enterprise GSM-R products! After our last discussion about GSM-R Core Network devices, our today's topic is going to be about Huawei Radio Access Network devices.
An integrated part of the innovative GSM-R system developed by Huawei that uses proven EIRENE-compliant digital wireless technology, the Radio Access Network devices undoutbedly deserve a closer look from our esteemed Community members. Let us do just that in the blog post unfolding in the next several minutes!
BASE STATION CONTROLLER BSC6000

This IP-based, GSM-R base station supports multiple radio systems and features high capacity and performance at low power consumption. As an essential component in Huawei’s GSM-R solution, this base station helps lay the foundation for network evolution. As a network element in a GSM network, the BSC6000 complies with 3GPP Release 8 specifications and offers several types of backup options. The unit’s modular configuration simplifies maintenance.
INDOOR MACRO BASE STATION BTS3900

This indoor macro base station supports both GSM-R and LTE - the ideal solution for railways that want to prepare for evolution to an LTE broadband network. One of the most compact indoor macro base stations in the industry, the BTS3900 features a large, scalable capacity and multi-mode applications that meet the requirements of long-distance railways. The base station cabinet contains as many as 6 RF modules. These multicarrier modules support both Huawei’s GSM-R 5.0 and the company’s enterprise LTE (eLTE). Use of this multi-radio-channel base station (and similar outdoor base station) maximizes versatility, while minimizing site deployment costs.
OUTDOOR MACRO BASE STATION BTS3900A

This outdoor macro base station supports both GSM-R and LTE - the ideal solution for railways that want to prepare for evolution to an LTE broadband network. One of the most compact outdoor macro base stations in the industry, the BTS3900A features a large, scalable capacity and multi-mode applications that meet the requirements of long-distance railways. Just like its indoor counterpart above, the base station cabinet contains as many as 6 RF modules. These multicarrier modules support both Huawei’s GSM-R 5.0 and the company’s enterprise LTE (eLTE). Use of this multi-radio base station (and similar indoor base stations) maximizes versatility while minimizing site deployment costs.
DISTRIBUTED BASE STATION DBS3900

This modular unit is designed to be installed far from other units, speeding up site selection and network construction and saving investment in repeaters. It enables flexible coverage along railway lines, especially tunnels and bridges. It consists of a Baseband Unit (BBU) and a number of Remote Radio Units (RRUs), creating a single powerful cell over multiple sites. The DBS3900 supports both GSM-R and eLTE. The GSM-R system can be upgraded to eLTE for Railway via software, with no need to replace hardware. Its low power consumption makes it possible to be powered by green energy, such as solar power, wind power, and biogas.
