Hello, friend!

1 Check whether the black screen has occurred in the following scenarios

  • Screen turns black during a call. To preserve battery life, your phone will automatically turn off the screen when the proximity sensor is covered. In this case, uncover the proximity sensor.

  • The screen timeout has expired. Your phone automatically turns off the screen when the timeout period has expired. In this case, simply unlock the phone.

2 Check whether you are using your phone while charging it

Using your phone during charging may result in system exceptions. It is recommended that you avoid using your phone while it is charging.

3 Check the storage space

It is recommended that you free up at least 20% of the available storage space. Your phone's system performance will deteriorate dramatically once the available storage space falls below 10%.

To view the storage details, open Settings and search for Storage. If the remaining space is insufficient, it is recommended that you open Phone Manager and touch Cleanup to delete unnecessary files or apps.

4 Check whether an incompatible app is running in the background.

  • If so, this may cause a strain on the RAM or other system resources, which may in turn lead to system exceptions. It is recommended that you allow fewer apps to run at the same time.

  • If certain third-party apps are incompatible with your phone, it may result in phone crashes or freezing, black screen, or abnormal restarting. It is recommended that you download the latest version of the app from AppGallery, and update your phone system to the latest version promptly.

If the system continues to report errors and the phone cannot be powered on, enable Safe mode, then search for Apps in Settings to uninstall the previously installed apps.

To enter or exit Safe mode:

Versions earlier than EMUI 9.1: Press and hold the Volume down button during the phone startup until Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen.

EMUI 9.1 or later: During phone startup, press and hold the Power button and Volume up button to enter Recovery mode. Then select Safe mode.

Mate 30 Pro & Mate 30 RS: After the phone vibrates during startup, press the Power button five times consecutively to enable Safe mode.

To exit Safe mode, restart your phone.

5 Check the System Version

Open Settings, search for and access Software update, and touch Check for updates. If an update is available, update your phone to the latest version at your earliest convenience.

Non-official systems may undermine the stability of your phone, resulting in malfunctions. If you have installed an unofficial system, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized for assistance.

6 You may have deleted an important system file by mistake

If any system file has been deleted and the system cannot find it during runtime, system errors will occur, causing the device to malfunction. In this case, use HiSuite or eRecovery mode to restore your phone.

7 Check whether a memory card is installed.

If so, remove the memory card and insert it back into the phone. If the problem has been resolved, it may have been caused by poor contact between the card and the phone. If the problem persists, the card may be damaged or incompatible with the phone system. Replace the memory card with another one that is in good condition and compatible with the system.

8 If the issue persists

Take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

Hope this helps!
