Product Positioning

Huawei NE05E and NE08E series are router products developed for enterprise network (medium-sized enterprise headquarters and branches of large-and medium-sized enterprises) or power network. An NE05E or NE08E mainly provides voice and data services in enterprise broadband/leased line or substations/power plants access scenarios.

Application Environment of NE devices in Enterprise Network

An NE device is generally located at the intersection between an enterprise's internal network and an external network. An NE05E or NE08E is the only entrance and exit of data flows between the internal and external networks. An NE05E or NE08E can bear multiple types of services, greatly reducing network construction investment and long-term operation and maintenance costs of an enterprise network.

An NE device adopts the advanced programmable forwarding engine and independent distributed switching technique. The NE05E and NE08E series products support indoor and outdoor environments, support fixed and flexible plug-in cards, and are diversified in models and specifications. These characteristics allow you to choose an NE05E or NE08E as an egress gateway based on the user scale.

Application Environment of NE devices in Power Network

As a part of the all-IP solution for a Huawei power network, NE devices are deployed between substations/power plants and IP aggregation routers and provide data access services for the substations/power plants.

In the preceding figure, NE devices function as access routers.

In the upstream direction, the NE devices receive data about scheduling production and information management from the substations/power plants and send it to the aggregation network.
In the downstream direction, the NE devices receive backhaul data from the aggregation network and send it to the substations/power plants.

This usage scenario has the following features:

NE devices allow a variety of interfaces to uniformly access.
VPNs, preferentially, MPLS L3VPNs are configured services.
VoIP and non-IP services are carried using PWE3.
Reliability services, such as dual-node access, are deployed based on the number, positions, and service significance of substations/power plants.
QoS is deployed to prioritize services.

This usage scenario has the following advantages:

All IP-based networking flexibly adapts to service scaling and network topology changes.
Uniform access facilitates network maintenance and reduces network costs.
Multi-service integration better utilizes bandwidth resources while guaranteeing high reliability for services.
Comprehensive maintenance features and SDH-like OAM detection mechanism ease fault detection.
The L3-to-edge solution flexibly suits future P2P communication requirements.
