Hi,

I'm running a Hyper-V Cluster on some 2288h v5 Servers and whenever I reboot one of them the Cluster Events complains that a network is partitioned. The NICs being referenced are Huawei's iBMA.

I don't think these will ever be used for a Cluster Network but I can't figure out how to stop this from happening. Windows is seeing the iBMA NICs as normal ethernet NICs in Network and Sharing Center, so the Cluster thinks they are usuable.

How do I stop this behaviour? And why is iBMA presented to Windows as a normal NIC?

Thanks

Hi, bro.

The iBMA is a real-time monitoring suite developer by Huawei team, it supports the status monitoring, performance monitoring, and event monitoring of various components, including server CPUs, memory, hard disks, NICs, IB cards, PCIe cards, RAID controller cards, and optical modules.

if there is other out-of-band management monitoring software to monitor your window cluster OS, or you didn't want to see this event appearing again, so you can try to uninstall the iBMA or directly disable the iBMC NIC in device manager.

uninstalling steps: https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/doc/EDOC1100027231/42b45f3c/uninstalling-the-ibma, it will completely uninstall the iBMA.

disable iBMA NIC in devicemanager, it's easier. steps:

Hello, friend!

Have a nice day!

Could you describe your problem in detail? I think iBMA is short for Intelligent Baseboard Management Agent. It is a manager, not a NIC. right?

That's what I expect. But in Windows it is showing the iBMA as a usable NIC, and I can give it an IP address just like you can with an actual NIC. Because of this, the Windows Failover Cluster component is pulling it in to the cluster and moaning that if can't communicate with the other iBMAs in the other Cluster Nodes.

Can I upload pictures here?

PS: If I disable the adapter in Windows, it's always re-enabled on reboot as well. I do want to use iBMA but as you say it shouldn't be presented to Windows as an actual NIC.

I expect it to be seen the same way as iLO on HP on iDRAC on Dell for examples.

Hello, friend!

Can you share some error screenshot?

Not so much "error" screenshots- just confused as to why the iBMA adapter is seen this way.

Just found this, which seems identical!!

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/442961-server-2012-failover-clustering-excempt-nic-from-becomming-a-cluster-network

But ideally I'd like to avoid running a PowerShell command on every reboot!
