HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

I could really use some help as ive been racking the internet without success.

Around a month back I changed internet provider and as a result my old setup of a modem and a router was replaced by huawei EG8245H5 ONT. This has wifi capabilities and i am currently using this for wifi, I also have the 3 ethernet ports used up.

Sporadically it drops, not completely but enough to cause frustration for 30 minutes, and multiple times a day some days. I also notice periods where it seems very slow.

I have looked online and I see a bunch of videos about using a seperate router wired to the ONT, and then connecting all wifi devices through the router, does this help?

I have D link routers, 2 of them spare both fairly new dual band routers currently unused.

I guess my main question is whether connecting this to the huawei EG8245H5 and using the router for wifi, would make any difference? I have an idea in my head that maybe theres too much traffic going through the huawei EG8245H5 and a router may be better, although I understand this may be nonsense on my part.

I would really appreciate some guidance on this. thanks so much.

Hello, friend!

You can connect a wireless router to the LAN port of an ONT, but the ONT does not connect to other ONTs.

If the LAN port of the ONT is connected to the Internet, you only need to connect the LAN port of the ONT to the LAN port of the wireless router through a cable.

If the network speed of the LAN port is unstable, the problem may be that the ISP restricts the rate, depending on the ISP network service you select. If the network is overloaded, the port rate is unstable. You can restart the device to restore the device.

Thanks!
