Dear Forum Members,


Request help & assistance from forum members. 


I have Huawei EchoLife EG8141A5 on the ground floor of my house. I have Mi / Xiaomi Router 4C (https://store.mi.com/in/item/3184300009) on the 1st Floor of my house. 


Huawei does not have coverage on the 1st Floor. Hence I want to extend the coverage from the ground floor to the 1st floor using Mi / Xiaomi Router 4C. 


I have already connected both the routers using a LAN cable. LAN cable from LAN1 of Huawei is connected to the WAN port of the Mi / Xiaomi Router 4C. 


My Questions #


  1. What settings should be enabled in both the routers so that the SSID remains the same? For example, my SSID in Huawei is "MY HOUSE". I want the same SSID to be used for the 1st-floor people to see. So that we don't have 2 SSIDs and 2 sets of passwords. 

  2. Does this Huawei ONT support 5 GHz? Because Mi / Xiaomi router supports hence wanted to check whether both the bands will work in both the modems.


Expecting your positive responses/answers which will help me to configure.

Hello, friend!


Log in to the EchoLife EG8141A5 WebUI, and choose Advanced Configuration > Wireless Network. In the navigation tree on the left, choose 2.4G Wireless Basic Configuration. In the right pane, set basic parameters for the 2.4G wireless network. On the configuration page, change the SSID connection name to MY HOUSE.

First of all, EG8141A5 does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
