Who am I?

Hi dear friends. My name is Luiz Puppin and I´m an IP Product Manager of a VAP/CSP/HALP partner of Huawei. I´m working in the ICT market since 1999 and my first contact with Huawei was in 2015.

How I got started to work with Huawei´s products?

In 2015, Huawei changed the approach with the Brazilian ISP Market and started the partnership with my last employer. At this time I was a Solution Architect and received the challenge to know the new IP products that we would offer to this market, who only knew the PON product line.

What was the first project?

Two months after, I received a PoC request for the S6720-EI switches. I needed to prove that all functions that were used on Juniper MX80 by the client were possible to migrate to these switches.

Here is my first tip: The better teacher on Huawei is the HedEx documents.

Is obvious that I already knew the working of protocols (ISIS, MPLS, BGP, VPLS, VPWS, MPLS-TE), for this, I needed to only find on HedEx how I could make the same what was configured on Juniper and “translate” to Huawei´s commands.

But How can I did already knew these protocols?

My first certification was the old MCP Windows 2000. Was the first big challenge, because my English was very bad (today is only bad) and I had only 2 months to study more than 700 pages.

Here is my second tip: Create an objective and make your maximum. Nothing is impossible.

After MCP I made my first Cisco CCNA and since it was 20 years studying and passing on certifications of a lot of manufacturers. (Extreme, Juniper, A10, Radware, Riverbed, Polycom, Websense, and more). If I block on the first exam because of my poor English, everything I did would have been impossible.

And about Huawei Certification?

Comparing all of the manufacturers whose I already worked, Huawei is whom more documentation and free exam material make available.

Here is my third tip: Don’t wait until the right moment to start to study. The right moment never comes.

Even you don´t work with Huawei´s products, all certifications are designed to teach protocols and best practices, then, only part of what you learn will be Huawei specific. The major part will be util to any other certification that you will need to do.

A lot of events make incentives to certifications, with gratuitous classes and vouchers to the exam. Follow Huawei's social media and take advantage of opportunities.

How do you get your certifications done?

“What do you do between 00:00 am and 07:00 am?” Remember that I wrote before “Create an objective”. Is very hard to work all day and study for certifications, but when you create goals and follow exactly what you determined, the results come naturally.

My last tip is: Follow your plans and reward yourself with every victory achieved.

Never settle. The biggest problem for human beings is when they are feeling comfortable. Challenge yourself always.

I hope I can contribute to someone who can relate to my words.

Thanks for all!!!
