Hello

The AR 6120 router is used, two providers are connected to it via PPPOE. Configured static routing across different weights for redundancy to work.

The problem is this:

It was decided to use the main provider (Dialer 2) only for Internet access, and the backup (Dialer 1), in addition to the reserve in case of disconnection of the main one, for VPN connections.

And here is the problem - if both providers are working, only the main provider is accessible from the Internet, and the backup provider is not. The backup provider interface doesn't even ping. Packages from the backup provider go to the Internet. If you disconnect the primary provider, the backup provider is immediately available. And VPN is installed to it. It was planned to use VPN and L2TP VPN for remote users on the backup provider Site to Site.

Have you come across a similar configuration?

Hi user_4331755,
I noticed your question. The terminal under the router is connected to carrier A and carrier B at the same time. In normal cases, users can access the Internet through ISP A and L2TP VPN through ISP B. If the line of carrier A is disconnected, All traffic is switched to B to access the Internet. I don't know if I understood it correctly?

Hi user_4331755 ,Based on networking requirements, you can configure interface policy-based routing to meet your requirements. If you have reference manuals, see the configuration cases of interface policy-based routing. The related configurations are displayed.

Hello

Yes. Or at least see examples of such a setting.
Unfortunately, in the official documentation, I only found the use of the second provider as a backup. But I could not find the simultaneous use of two providers. The main task is to make sure that the first provider is used to access the Internet, and the second one is used to use VPN.

Do you mean that one is connected to an ISP using PPPoE and the other is connected to another ISP using VPN? Then the two links work in load balancing mode?

Hello

What is meant is that there are two ISPs in use, both connected via PPPOE.

One ISP must be used by users to access the Internet.

The second ISP should be used for VPN connection (Site to Site VPN, L2TP for remote users). Also, if the first ISP is disconnected, the second ISP must be used as a backup ISP.
