Hi,
Recently I saw some posts regarding the AirEngine 5760 not getting power on reboot. And irronically, we faced the same issue with these Access Points. So, here I present the basic summary of how we troubleshoot the issue and resolved it for good. I hope it helps you as well.
Issue Description
Huawei AirEngine5760-51 was not getting POE every time when switch S5720I-12X-PWH-SI-DC rebooted and it was only resolved when AP cable was re-plugged from AP end. This was getting frustrating for customer as they had to do it everytime.
Handling Process
Performed the following test.
1- Check cable quality and resistance of network cable
2- Ear-thing of equipment and AP’s
3- Patch and OS upgrade of switch.
4- Verification at configuration end
All tests were found ok even when AP place on ground it makes no issue on switch reboot but when AP mounted on ceiling it needs cable re-plug from AP end.
Root Cause
1- Network cable connectors
2- POE configuration setting
Solution:
1- We Change Network cable connectors from Cat5 to Cat6.
2- POE Configuration setting on each interface and globally.
System view
# poe high-inrush enable
# poe max-power …. Slot id
# Interface gig 0/0/1
# Poe enable
# Poe force-power
I hope it was helpful.
