Hello,

I am configuring my Huawei 8546m for my FTTH connection with voice.

The Internet and Voice WAN profiles are configured seperately and successfully connected.

I am able to successfully configure the Voice Profile successfully with my SIP server domain name (cg.ftth.ims.bsnl.in). The voice also works fine.

But whenever my ONT is switched off and restarts, the VOIP fails to connect. The status shows Registering and Incorrect Server address. On the Voice page the domain name is deleted from the profile by itself.

Please help.

Hello, friend!

In the first place, HG8546M is a customized product.

The cause of the problem you described: HG8546M delivers the configuration to the device through the OLT or ACS of the ISP.

When the HG8546M restarts, the HG8546M needs to resend the registration request, and then the OLT or ACS delivers the configuration to the HG8546M, therefore, the status displayed after the device restarts is Registering and the server address is incorrect.

The SIP server domain name (cg.ftth.ims.bsnl.in) is configured on the ONT web page. To put it more simply, this configuration is created on the HG8546M. When the domain name is created, the corresponding voice service is usually bound to the domain name. However, the voice service is created on the OLT. Therefore, the ONT is first restored to the configuration on the ONT each time the ONT is restarted, then, restore the ONT configuration issued by the OLT. After the device is restarted, the configurations issued by the OLT to the device are not restored. As a result, the configurations created on the ONT are invalid and discarded.

Solution:

As the product is customized for the ISP, you can contact the ISP to migrate the configuration delivered by the OLT to the ONT web page and then create the corresponding SIP server domain name.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your response.
This ONT was not provided by the ISP. I bought from the market. For ONT Authentication I had to change the serial number and add the serial number of my original ONT (which is non-Huawei).
Do you mean to say that getting my current Huawei 8546m ONT paired with ISP OLT would solve the Issue?

Hi, friend!
Is your device used in a home or enterprise scenario?
You can determine whether the device is a customized product by checking the device SN or by consulting the device provider.
If it is non-customized products, you can log in to the device WebUI to create SIP configurations.
If you use a home network and the ONT is connected to the ISP network, need ISP to create SIP configurations on the ONT web page and delete the SIP configurations of the ONT created on the OLT.

Hello,
I use the ONT in my home network. I am to access the WebUI using telecomadmin/admintelecom and as I mentioned earlier, Iam able to make the SIP configuration and it works. Its only after a restart that the configuration is deleted automatically and after re-configuring it again works.

Hi,
I'm sorry I didn't see your reply in time.
Yes. As you mentioned, you are connected to a home network (ISP network). Therefore, after the HG8546M is restarted, it takes time to restore the configuration parameters delivered by the ISP. Then, refer to the preceding description. As a result, the device configuration is lost.

Then I'll get my ONT configured by the ISP first.
I'll get back after that.

Thanks.

Hello!

Your device is a customized device provided by the carriers. Some functions are restricted. For example, the modification of access control is fixed by the providers before they give it to you. The solution is to contact the carrier, ask them to initialize the device on the remote OLT (back up the data before initializing the device) and apply for unlocking all the locked devices.

Dear friends, you want to link to the Internet, but to achieve absolute security, this is not possible, we can only reduce security risks as much as possible.

Thanks!
