Network services of FTTH users are delivered through the ISP OLT or ACS management device. According to the problem description, replace the HG8240w with a new ONT( HS8145V5) and copy the previous ONT configuration. However, the HS8145V5 can go online and work normally only after the ONT registration request is verified by the ISP.

Hi sorry for the late reply, just ended some busy stuff.
If the config is copied exactly the same, I still need the ISP to authenticate my new ONT?
I contacted my ISP helpline but the operator said the HS8145V5 is not currently in their manual, she does not know how to help

Your ISP's reply is correct. If the ONT list supported by the OLT does not contain HS8145V5, your ONT cannot be registered with the OLT. To successfully register an ONT with the OLT, ensure that the ONTs have the same communication policy.
I suggest you change an ISP company and ask whether the ONT of this type is supported. Alternatively, you can contact your device supplier to apply for replacing the HS8145V5 with the ONT supported by the ISP.
