Dear user!
paired slots refer to a pair of slots whose resident boards' overhead can be processed by the buses on the backplanes. OSN 6800 supports paired slots.
At a site where OSC signals pass through, two OSC boards must be configured in paired slots.
When line boards or OTU boards function as regeneration boards, ESC signals need to pass through the boards. In this scenario, the two line boards or OTU boards must be configured in paired slots.
Paired slots among slots IU1 to IU8 and IU11 toIU16 support distributed service grooming.
For example, slots 9 and 10 on the OSN 3500 house cross-connect boards, and the slots on the two sides of the cross-connect board are paired slots. For example, slot 8 and slot 11; slot 7 and slot 12; Pairs of slot 6 and slot 13.
For the new equipment, there is no restriction on the paired slots. For the equipment of earlier versions, however, the MSP protection group must be created in the paired slots. Otherwise, an error message is displayed.
If the MSP protection subnet is configured in the paired slot, the switching can pass through the hardware directly to trigger fast switching. If the MSP protection subnet is not configured in the paired slot, the switching is slow because the software processing is required.
