• The STB does not send IGMP packets and therefore the live program information is not reported.
• A failure of exchanging IGMP messages or program matching occurs and therefore the device fails to generate the forwarding entry.
• The video stream is not transmitted downstream.
• IGMP message exchange between the OLT and the ONU is abnormal. As a result, the OLT does not forward the program data to the ONU.
Procedure
1. Run the command to enable the function of debugging the IGMP messages of the ONU to trace IGMP messages when the STB switches the live program channel.

8. Check whether the upstream IPTV program is normal.
a. Enable the program prejoin function.

NOTE:
Because the OLT works in the IGMP proxy mode, enable the program prejoin function to check whether the video stream reaches the OLT.
b. Check the video stream.

e. Multicast flow statistic result: 1648(kbps)
f. Check the video stream continuously. It is confirmed that the video stream is not interrupted. This indicates that the upstream IPTV program is normal and it reaches the OLT.

Because the upstream transmission of the OLT is normal, the forwarding between the OLT and the ONU may be abnormal.
Check the configuration of the OLT cascading multicast and the multicast mode of the ONU.
. Check the configuration of the OLT cascading multicast.
a. huawei(config)#display current-configuration section BTV
igmp cascade-port 0/4/3 ontid 3 //The ID of the ONU is 3 and cascading multicast is configured on the ONU.
NOTE:
You can also query whether cascading multicast is enabled on the OLT by running the display igmp cascade-port all command.

p. Change the ONU multicast mode configured on the OLT to be the same as the actual multicast mode of the lower-layer ONU.
q. huawei(config-if-epon-0/4)#ont multicast-mode 3 3 igmp-snooping //The igmp-snooping indicates that the OLT works in the IGMP proxy mode and the ONU works in the IGMP snooping mode.

The fault is rectified after the multicast mode is changed.
Suggestion and Summary
Before deploying cascading multicast service between the OLT and the ONU, make sure that the ONU multicast mode configured on the OLT is the same as the actual multicast mode of the ONU.
