How to Setup Printer via HG8245W5's USB Port

Hi, team.


I want to connect the printer to my HG8245W5's USB port. I already did this on my previous Huawei model but not on this HG8245W5. The printer is enabled via web browser once I connect the printer to a USB port I can see my printer name show up as shown in the photo.

The problem is, when I try to add the printer from Windows 10, I always get the errors " Windows couldn't connect to the printer"


I use the following path to add the printer http://192.168.1.1:631/printers/G2010_series  without any issue on my previous Huawei. ( I change the address of  HG8245W5 to 192.168.1.1)

Any idea? Suggestion? Instruction?

Dear firend,

Please refer to

  1. Click the Network Application tab, and choose Home Sharing from the navigation tree on the left. In the right pane, configure the home sharing settings, as shown in Figure 3-61.

  2. Click Apply.

  • To enable a home printer, connect it to the USB port of the home gateway (ONT). The IP address of this printer is the IP address of the ONT. This printer can be used after it is searched out and its driver is installed.

    Do not remove and re-insert the USB storage device in use, because this may damage files in it.

    A file (such as PDF) may fail to be printed in the Windows OS in any of the following cases:

  • The Windows domain is used and user domain fails to be authenticated.

  • An alias is used to access the printer.

  • No authentication mode is used for a printer.

    This issue occurs because of application program incompatibility. If this issue occurs, check your Windows or printer settings.

  • If the security software is installed on the PC, which leads to Samba user name authentication failure for the first login attempt, authenticate the user name again or use the Samba function in anonymity.

Hello there!

We just confirmed with the R & D engineer that for the ONT of HG8245W5 model,

1. If it supports the printer function, there is a "enable printer" switch in the application menu on the web page,

2. If there is no "enable printer" switch in the application menu on the webpage, it means that this type of device does not support the printer function.

Yes, my HG8245W5 has USB printer function enabled and from  HG8245W5 show my printer model which is Canon G2010_series.  As show in red circle in photo below. The question is what is the URL in HG8245W5 of this printer that I can connect to ?  http://192.168.1.1:631/printers/G2010_series  worked fine in my previous Huawei ONT but not this new one.

Have you found the solution? I have the same problem for my HG8245H5 router ... printer (HP 1515) is detected but no way to connect (using IP / Port 631 /etc ) none working
