Hello everyone!
This post will introduce you how to replace the pluggable optical module.
When you replace a pluggable optical module, query whether the port of the optical module to be replaced is configured with protection. If it is not, the replacement of the optical module causes the interruption of traditional services.
If electrical-layer ASON services traverse the port of the optical module to be replaced and the port is not configured with protection, optimize the electrical-layer ASON services traversing the port to other ports or other boards (the preset restoration paths of the services are preferred if they do not traverse the port of the optical module to be replaced) before module replacement. Then, switch the services back to the original paths after module replacement.
If the port of the optical module to be replaced is configured with protection, module replacement does not affect services when the protection switching functions properly.
Procedure
1. Select a spare pluggable optical module. The part number of the new pluggable optical module must be the same as the part number of the original.
2. Query and record the current NE alarms.
3. Query whether the ports of the optical module to be replaced is configured with protection. When you replace the optical module of the working channel, perform protection switching.
4. Remove the fiber on the port of the optical module.
5. Test the input optical power. Prevent the input optical power from crossing the overload point; otherwise, the receiver optical module will be burned and damaged. For the procedure, see the "Testing Optical Power by Using an Optical Power Meter" in Supporting Tasks.
6. Replace the fault optical module. For details, see the following figure.

7. Check the wavelength of the new optical module on the NMS. Make sure the wavelength is the same as that of the original.
8. On the U2000, check the modulation format of the new optical module to ensure that the modulation formats are the same before and after optical module replacement.
9. Insert the fiber removed in 4.
10. Confirm that the original alarms or performance events are cleared.
