Yesterday, I collected logs and found that one DIMM of the 5288 V3 server reported an error. Therefore, I replaced the DIMM. However, the problem was not solved. How do I replace a DIMM?

Hello there!

Removing a DIMM

1. Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see Safety Instructions.

2. Determine the rack and chassis numbers of the server to be removed and label its panel to prevent misoperations.

3. Power off the 5288 V3. For details, see Powering Off the Server.

4. Remove all external cables, such as power and network cables.

5. Remove the 5288 V3 and put it on an ESD desktop. For details, see Removing the Server.

6. Remove the chassis cover. For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.

7. Remove the supercapacitor (if it is installed). For details, see Removing the Supercapacitor (RAID Controller Card).

8. Remove the full-height full-length riser cards (if they are installed). For details, see Removing the Riser Card.

9 Remove the air duct. For details, see Removing the Air Duct.

10. Open the two fixing clips on the DIMM slot simultaneously. See step (1) in Figure 1.

Installing a DIMM

Install a DIMM to replace the original one or add a new DIMM.

The rules for installing DIMMs are as follows:

  • The 5288 V3 in dual-CPU configuration provides 16 double data rate 4 (DDR4) DIMM slots;

  • Each memory riser integrates two memory channels.

Steps

1. Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see Safety Instructions.

2. Remove the DIMM to be replaced or remove the DIMM filler from the slot where a new DIMM is to be installed. The method for removing a DIMM filler is the same as that for removing a DIMM. For details, see Removing a DIMM.

3. Take the spare DIMM out of the memory riser box.

4. Open the two fixing clips on the DIMM slot simultaneously. See Figure 2.

5. Align the DIMM with the DIMM slot and insert the DIMM into the slot. See Figure 3.

6. The two fixing clips close automatically.

5. Install the air duct. For details, see Installing the Air Duct.

6. Install the supercapacitor (if it is required). For details, see Installing the Supercapacitor (RAID Controller Card).

7. Install the full-height full-length riser cards if they are required. For details, see Installing a Riser Card.

8. Install the chassis cover. For details, see Installing the Chassis Cover.

9. Install the 5288 V3. For details, see Installing the Server.

10. Connect all internal cables, such as power and network cables. For details, see Connecting External Cables.

11. Power on the 5288 V3. For details, see Powering On the Server.
