QUESTION

How to reconfigure NTP for a distributed U2000?

ANSWER

1. Log in to the U2000 Centralized Maintenance Management Tool. For details about how to log in to the U2000 Centralized Maintenance Management Tool, choose Maintenance > Time Management > Configure NTP from the Main Menu.


2. In the Configure NTP window, click Reconfigure NTP. The dialog box containing 'Are you sure you want to reconfigure NTP?' is displayed.


3. Click OK to reconfigure NTP.


4. In Task Information List, verify tha****P is successfully reconfigured.


QUESTION

How to restart the NTP service?

ANSWER

1. Log in to the SUSE Linux OS as the root user.


2. Run the following command to restart the NTP service: #rcntp restart. The NTP service is successfully restarted if information similar to the following is displayed:


Checking for network time protocol daemon (NTPD):                running

The 64-bit timestamps used by NTP consist of a 32-bit part for seconds and a 32-bit part for fractional second, giving a time scale that rolls over every 232 seconds (136 years) and a theoretical resolution of 2−32 seconds (233 picoseconds). NTP uses an epoch of January 1, 1900 so the first rollover will be on February 7, 2036

U2000 can be configured as a NTP pass-on node (pass-on? I don't know the commonly used term).

Distributed U2000 is different with normally configured centralized U2000 for smaller network scale, it's for large scale network, and have many server hosting some module of U2000, cooperate to work as a U2000 system.
