What is ESN?
The Equipment Serial Number (ESN) is also called equipment fingerprint, uniquely identifies a device.
Generally, the SN (serial number) of a component in the whole equipment is selected as the ESN of the equipment. At the same time, this ESN is also the serial number bound with the license when the license is loaded into the device, so that the license can only be used on this ESN device.
What is SN?
The Serial Number(SN) is a concept introduced to verify the "legal identity of products". It is used to protect the legitimate rights and interests of users and enjoy legal services.
Any independent component will be assigned an SN serial number during production. This serial number is the identification number of the component (the SN of components with the same code is different). For active components (power on and memory), SN, code, model, description, production time and manufacturer information will be written into the component memory, and the network management can read this information remotely. For passive components, such as cabinets and other structural parts, only SN labels are pasted on the cabinet body.
ESN and SN are necessarily related. The whole equipment has only one ESN (the SN of a component in the equipment is taken as the ESN), and Sn means that all independent components in the equipment have SN.
Therefore, in Maintenance Status Query Tool, you only need to enter the SN of the product to query the maintenance status of the product.
How to obtain the ESN of the Huawei transmission product?
Huawei's optical transmission products belong to frame(subrack + board) type products, the SN of the chassis code or the SN of the backplane is selected as the ESN of the whole equipment.
How to obtain the SN of the Huawei product?
Method 1. Obtain SN by SN tag
After finding out the SN tag of the product, obtain the SN of the tag.
Method 2. Obtain the SN of the product by NMS
Obtain SN of product by NCE-T
1. Open the Network Management app of NCE-T, Resource > Physical Inventory.
2. Select subracks or boards and check the product to be queried, click Query. When all the data is uploaded, Click 
on the left of the entry. When the icon changes to 
, the SN of the subracks or boards can be seen. For most devices, the SN is the Bar Code value of the electronic label on the back frame.
Obtain SN of the product by U2000
1. In the main menu of U2000, select: Inventory > Physical Inventory.
2. Select subrack or board and check the product to be queried and click Query. You can select All records for the overall query, or click Filter for the accurate query. Then click Query. When all the data is uploaded, you can see the SN of the product
Method 3. Obtain the SN of the product by Navigator
After logging into NE using the Navigator tool and running cfg-get-bdinfo command to query the SN of the board.
Command format:
:cfg-get-bdinfo:slot ID
Run the following command to query the SN of the subrack.
:cfg-get-bdinfo:254
For CPE product:
:cfg-get-bdinfo:1
Please note:
The SN of the subrack is stored in a special module on the backplane, which is not available for early products. Therefore, for products that leave the factory earlier, the SN of the subrack cannot be queried.
