In this post, I would like to share with you how to manage large-scale OTN networks.
In order to expand the capacity of a network, it needed to install more OTN equipment. However, the current DCN Network can not cover the requirement. It means the number of Datacom equipment is not enough to handle new OTN equipment.
Handling Process
1- Make a physical connection from the NM_ETH port of the NE to the service board directly.
2- Crate an EPLAN (802.1d) service on the service node and put both OAM data and main traffic on it.
3- Assign non-repeated VLAN ID to the part that corresponded to OAM traffic in the service board.
4- In the nearest opposite site where data-com equipment (DCN) exist, make a physical connection between a specific port service board and data-com equipment. And did the same three above steps.
Root Cause
the limitation of a number of datacom equipment in a transmission network in order to transmit OAM services to U2000.
Solution
Use provided bandwidth by newly installed OTN to cover OAM services too.
