Hello, friend!

The method for initializing an EVS disk varies depending on the OS running on the server. The following method uses Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise to describe how to initialize a data disk attached to a server running Windows.

1. On the desktop of the server, right-click Computer and choose Manage from the shortcut menu.

The Server Manager page is displayed.

2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Storage Disk Management.

3. In the right pane, a disk list is displayed, and the Initialize Disk dialog box is displayed listing the disks need to be initialized. Select MBR (Master Boot Record) and click OK.

Unallocated disk space

4. Right-click at the unallocated disk space and choose New Simple Volume from the shortcut menu.

Creating a simple disk

5. On the displayed New Simple Volume Wizard page, click Next.

New simple volume wizard

6. Specify the simple volume size as required (the default value is the maximum) and click Next.

Specifying the volume size

7. Assign the driver letter and click Next.

Assigning the driver letter or path

8. Select Format the volume with the following settings, set parameters based on the actual requirements, and select Perform a quick format. Then click Next.

Formng thattie partition

Completing the partition creation

9. Click Finish to complete the wizard. Wait for the initialization to complete. When the volume status changes to Healthy, the initialization has finished successfully.

Successful disk initialization

Hope this helps!
