Question:
When the wireless function of the FTTH is used, the wireless access distance is short and the access rate does not meet the requirement. How can we do to effectively avoid this problem?
Answer:
1. Try to avoid channel interference. To maximize the frequency band resources, we can use these groups such as 1, 6, 11; 2, 7, 12; 3, 8, 13 which do not interfere with each other to perform wireless coverage.
2. Take advantage of the antenna polarity.
The Wi-Fi antenna is usually vertical to the horizontal plane and it's passive. Although the antenna is omnidirectional, it still has a certain direction. Especially, the external dipole antenna is characterized by strong field strength in the horizontal direction and weak field strength in the vertical direction, the following figure shows the direction diagram.

The Z direction is the polarization direction of the antenna. We can see that the energy is concentrated around the antenna, that is, the position of the flat layer. The radiation at the upper and lower layers of the antenna upward side is weaker. This is caused by the characteristics of the antenna, but it can be fixed by swinging the antenna, for example, if the antenna is horizontally placed, the field strength in the vertical direction of the Wi-Fi can be compensated, so that the communication distance between the upper and lower layers is better.
3. Eliminate radio interference sources. Common family interference sources are as follows:
Microwave ovens: Most microwave ovens work on the 2.4G frequency band. The power of the household microwave oven is far greater than that of the Wi-Fi product. Even if the power is shielded, the impact of the Wi-Fi network is huge.
2.4 GHz cordless phone: Currently, the power of the typical 2.4 GHz cordless phone base mounting is DC 9V/350mA, the power is about 3W, while the universal power of the Wi-Fi product is within 0.1W. It is recommended that the Wi-Fi device is placed far away from the base of the cordless phone.
Wi-Fi mutual interference. There are other wireless terminals in the surrounding environment and these terminals may cover all channels. In this environment, Wi-Fi performance often cannot be optimized. You can use the corresponding network tool to check the status and signal strength of each signal AP of Wi-Fi. Select a channel with less interference as the working channel according to method 1.
