Hi, dear!

This is an intelligent video surveillance site survey for feature capture and feature recognition.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Site Survey

  • Installation

  • Intelligent Analysis Service Configuration

  • Effect Acceptance and Common Fault Troubleshooting

There are 4 basic steps in the installation and commissioning an IVS, but before the implementation stage, certain technical survey reports must be filled up to identify the needed cameras, parameters and site location.

Under Site Survey, you must identify the following scenarios and parameters:

  1. Select an installation scenario.

  2. Determine the installation position.

  3. Determine the installation height and distance.

  4. Typical site survey scenarios.

For Feature Capture and Facial Recognition Site Survey:

  • Camera Installation Requirements:

    • Camera Installation Location

    • The recommended camera installation height ranges from 2.5-3.5m.

    • The camera should directly face pedestrians to ensure a better capture effect. Therefore, it is essential to consider the installation position and image coverage width during scene selection.

  • Recommended Scenes:

    • Indoor corridor with enough light

    • Subway turnstile

    • Campus and event venue entrance/exit

    • Gates

  • Environmental Requirements:

    • Illumination Intensity:

      • The recommended illumination ranges from 70 lux to 900 lux.

      • The outdoor direct sunlight intensity may exceed 900 lux. If the capture effect is unsatisfactory, add a sunshield for the camera.

      • To capture images at night, install an illuminator for the camera or select a bullet camera with a built-in illuminator.

    • The direction of Light:

      • Even illumination is required. In backlight, strong light, or uneven illumination conditions, the captured face image quality may be affected.

  • Pedestrian Requirements:

  • Moving Speed:

    • Normal walking speed, neither cycling nor vehicle driving.

    • Pedestrians must walk in a uniform direction. For instance, at the turnstile or campus entrance and exit, pedestrians walk through a designated path to facilitate image capture.

Operation steps

  1. Select an installation scenario, it may be at entrances and exits, metro stations, mall entrances, corridors, etc.

    Feature Capture

  2. Avoid scenarios such as below:

    Feature Capture

    Note:

    1. One strong enemy of the cameras would be lighting (too much lighting), make sure that the location of the cameras would not be too bright (sunshield may be installed but would still affect the performance of the camera)

    2. There is a recommended height and angle for the camera therefore, compliance to the recommended value would output into a good quality data and images.

    3. Make sure that the location of the camera would be facing the faces of the majority. Capturing back images is very useless.

  3. Select an Installation Position:

    1. When selecting an installation position, pay attention to the following points:

      1. Installation position: The camera is installed in the due front of an aisle or walkway. The camera directly faces pedestrians to ensure a better capture effect.

      2. Installation height: The recommended installation height (H) ranges from 2.5 m to 3.5 m. The optimal height ranges from 2.5 m to 3 m.

      3. The surveillance width (W) and installation distance (D) vary depending on the camera model. Check if the camera meets the requirement (based on the resolution of 120 x 120 pixels).

      4. Keep the camera tilt angle ranges from 10°to 15°. The optimal tilt angle ranges from 8° to 10°. It is difficult to measure the angle onsite. The angle can be controlled through the installation height and distance.

        Distance Requirement

Note:

If the vertical capture distance is less than 5m, the camera imaging can meet snapshot requirements. However, pedestrians appear in the surveillance view for only a short time, the camera may capture only top of their heads or even misses some pedestrians.

If the vertical capture distance is greater than 15m, light provided by the illuminator may be insufficient. Besides, the camera’s tilt angle may be too small. These may affect the snapshot effect.
