This post describes how to configure the DHCP Option 82. Please see an example below.

Example

The following configurations are used as an example to configure the DHCP Option 82, in order to enhance user security:

  • RAIO configuration mode: global

  • RAIO mode: user-defined

  • Ethernet access mode:

a) CID format: eth

b) Subrack ID/slot ID/sub-slot ID/port ID: vlanid

  • xPON access mode:

a) CID format: xpon

b) Subrack ID/slot ID/sub-slot ID/port ID: ontid.vlanid

  • RID format: labels of service ports

huawei(config)#raio-mode user-defined dhcp-option82huawei(config)#raio-format dhcp-option82 cid eth anid eth frame/slot/subslot/port:vlanidhuawei(config)#raio-format dhcp-option82 cid xpon anid xpon frame/slot/subslot/port:ontid.vlanidhuawei(config)#raio-format dhcp-option82 rid eth splabelhuawei(config)#raio-format dhcp-option82 rid xpon splabelhuawei(config)#dhcp option82 enable

The crc-alarm enable command enables the alarm function for CRC errors on the AP wired interface and specifies the alarm threshold and clear alarm threshold.
The undo crc-alarm enable command disables the alarm function for CRC errors on the AP wired interface and restores the alarm threshold and clear alarm threshold to the default values.
By default, the alarm function for CRC errors is disabled on the AP wired interface. The alarm threshold for CRC errors is 50 and the clear alarm threshold is 20. This post was last edited by No.9527 at 2018-10-31 06:27.

This is a very important topic nowadays, I had a similar case and I appreciate you shared the info to us. Keep posting!

Network scale and complexity increase makes network configurations complex. For example, computers frequently change their locations, and IP addresses are insufficient for these computers. The DHCP protocol is developed to address these problems. The dhcp enable command enables the DHCP function on the device.

Precautions

The dhcp enable command is the prerequisite for configuring DHCP-related functions, including DHCP relay, DHCP snooping, and DHCP server. These functions take effect only after the dhcp enable command is run. After the undo dhcp enable command is run, all DHCP-related configurations of the device are deleted. After DHCP is enabled again using the dhcp enable command, all DHCP-related configurations of the device are restored to the default configurations.

DHCP Option 82 is a user security mechanism, which encapsulates the user access information obtained by access devices through relay agent info option (RAIO) into the Option 82 field of the DHCP request packets sent from a user. The data is encapsulated in the format specified by customers. This facilitates the upper-layer authentication server to authenticate users and prevents user account theft and roaming This post was last edited by GongXiaochuan at 2018-10-30 01:25.

I am very interested for this post, which is very helpful to our daily troubleshooting. I always have similar problems in my daily work, but I do not know how to deal with them. Now I have a clear idea. Thank you very much for your sharing. Hope you can update continue like this

It is recommended to add multiple DHCP Option 82 scenarios to our manual. Each time you encounter such a problem, it is basically a configuration problem. Therefore, some standard scenarios are required. Next time we push the customer to pre-configure.

Probes that do not contain an SSID: The STA periodically broadcasts a Probe Request frame that does not contain an SSID in the supported channels , The APs return Probe Response frames to notify the STA of the wireless services they can provide

Probes containing an SSID: The STA sends a Probe Request frame containing an SSID in each channel to search for the AP with the same SSID. Only the AP with the same SSID will respond to the STA.
