This post will share you how to commission the amplifier board.
There are many types of amplifiers, such as OAU, OBU, and it has many subtypes.
For so many types of amplifier boards, how we should commission the board? Here we only discuss the EDFA type boards. I think everyone checked the product document and saw every board has its specification, for example, the OAU103 board, has VOA and the gain scope is 24~36dB, the max out power is 20dB, the first is to confirm the system lambda capacity, if plan the system 40 lambdas, the single lambda out power on this board can be 4dB, in order to make the single lambda out power to 4dB, keep the gain as default 24dB, the single input power should be -20dB, if lower than -20dB, then decrease the VOA before IN port till the VOA min value, if the single lambda input power is -27dB and the VOA already the min value then we can start to adjust the nominal gain to 31dB, so the sort decreases the VOA before adjust the nominal gain, higher gain will cause OSNR to decrease.
