How to check ONT hardware version on the OLT side and allow/block using service flows.

HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hello everyone,

All is in the title, i'm not talking about the cmd "display ont version 0 0".

But about to block others ONT with a different hardware version mismatch.

I mean for example :

I set 159D.A version to be able to use service flows after GPON S/N or password or loid auth (O5 state).

Someone is connecting a ONT with a different hardware version (635.A), O5 state of course but can't access to the service flows behind (mean VLAN for the example).

I would like to know how to put a restriction on a specific hardware version ?

I know that's possible, because my ISP is using it on their Huawei OLT and their Alcatel-Nokia OLT too.

Thanks for your help.

Hello, friend!

I've read your question description and comments, but I'm still not sure what you're asking.

I mean for example :

I set 159D.A version to be able to use service flows after GPON S/N or password or loid auth (O5 state).

Someone is connecting a ONT with a different hardware version (635.A), O5 state of course but can't access to the service flows behind (mean VLAN for the example).

As for the preceding description, I understand you want to change the ONT hardware version on the OLT to control service flows allow/block.

But I need to be clear, the OLT does not support the query of the ONT hardware version, and The ONT hardware version cannot be changed on the OLT.

After confirmation:

The ONT hardware version cannot be changed to control service flows allow/block.

Thanks!

Hello,

I don't want to change the Hardware version on the ONT, i'm just asking if it's possible to set a specific Hardware version whitelist/policies on the OLT to accept known Hardware version and reject unknown Hardware version who are not in the whitelist/policies.

My ISP is doing it as their side, and using Huawei MA5680T OLT too. So i pretty sure is a function of the OLT.

Thanks.

Hello, friend!

Can you provide the software version of the MA5608T?

According to your problem description, I still do not understand your question. Do you want to control the running and interruption of service flows by setting the hardware version?

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

My MA5608T version is : MA5600V800R019C10, Patch SPH205.

In fact, i would like to know and do the same thing that my ISP is doing on their customers.

It looks like a whitelist with authorized Hardware version and if the Hardware version isn't correct you'll not be able to use the service flows (DHCP, PPPoE...), because in the omci log the vlan mapping isn't allowed because Hardware version mismatch.

This is the next of my previous answer :
For example i've a GPON SFP stick that my ISP don't know it. If im changing the SN to a registered SN, i'll get a 05 state, but if i don't change in a same time the Hardware version/ONT version in the MIB file of the SFP to match it, i'll get any vlan mapping functional. I don't know if you see what i mean ?

Hello, friend!

I am sorry for the late feedback, as I confirmed several times to get the following information:

Configure the ONT trustlist function. After the function is enabled, only the ONTs in the trustlist can go online. Other ONTs cannot go online. This function is disabled by default and takes effect in real time.

Configures, deletes, and queries the ONT type information in the trustlist, including the vendor flag, device type, and software version. The information takes effect in real time.
The ONT offline reason is added, indicating that the ONT is not in the trustlist and cannot go online.

Query and set commands. MIBs are not supported.

display xpon ont-trustlist gpon

xpon ont-trustlist gpon vendor

xpon ont-trustlist gpon {disable | enable}

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your investigation about this problem.

But it seems i don't have this function on my MA5608T, i mean the "ont-trustlist". Take a look on this screenshot :

Hello, friend!

Due to the differences between device versions, the commands of the device are different.

The display xpon ont-whitelist gpon command has the same function as the display xpon ont-trustlist gpon command for querying GPON ONT trustlist parameters.

display xpon ont-whitelist gpon [ vendor { vendor-id | hex vendor-id } [ equipment { equipment-id | hex equipment-id } [ software-version software-version ] ] ]

The xpon ont-whitelist gpon vendor command is used to set a GPON ONT trustlist. The ONT trustlist consists of the ONT vendor ID, ONT device ID, or ONT version information. Only the ONTs that meet the ONT trustlist configuration can be authenticated. To control the type of ONTs that can go online, run this command.

The undo xpon ont-whitelist gpon command is used to delete the GPON ONT trustlist configured based on the ONT vendor ID, ONT device ID, and ONT version.

The xpon ont-whitelist gpon command is used to enable or disable the ONT trustlist to go online. If you need to configure an ONT trustlist to control the ONT going online, turn on the switch. If the ONT trustlist function does not need to be configured on the, set this parameter to OFF.
